Hot Water Systems Springwood
Hot water repairs and replacements in Springwood, with a straight answer on which one makes sense. Gas, electric and heat pump units serviced, repaired and replaced.

Repair or replace?
Most hot water systems last somewhere between 8 and 15 years, depending on water quality, use and how well they’ve been looked after. Within that range, plenty of faults are worth repairing: a thermostat, a heating element, a relief valve, a tempering valve, or a gas unit’s ignition.
The cylinder is the big one. If the tank itself is leaking, a replacement is the conversation to have, unless it’s still under warranty. The Your Home guide notes that warranties on glass-lined steel tanks are typically 5 to 10 years, and 10 to 15 years on stainless steel, which gives a rough idea of how long the tank is expected to hold up.
Your Home also suggests thinking about a replacement before you need one. When an ageing unit fails, there often isn’t time to compare options, and the quickest choice isn’t always the cheapest to run.

What the warranty does and doesn’t cover
Read the warranty before you book a repair. Rheem’s warranty for its electric storage heaters, for example, excludes routine replacement parts like the anode and relief valve. It also excludes damage from floods, storms and other accidents, installations that don’t follow the instructions, and faults caused by an unsuitable water supply or a unit that’s too small for the household.
Some manufacturers also exclude repairs done by anyone other than their own service agents. If your unit is still under warranty, check the conditions first. We’ll tell you if it’s a warranty job and point you to the manufacturer.
Warranties generally don’t cover water damage to the house. Rheem’s excludes damage to furniture, carpet, walls and floors from a leaking heater. That’s one more reason not to ignore a slow leak.
Regular servicing helps a unit reach the end of its expected life. Rheem recommends a major service every five years, including replacing the relief valve and checking the anode, and replacing the anode by 10 years at the latest. We service, repair and replace gas, electric and heat pump systems under QBCC licence 15504687 and gas licence L90908.
Frequently asked questions

Call 0418 871 269How long should a hot water system last?
Most last 8 to 15 years. Water quality, how much hot water you use, and servicing all make a difference. Tank warranties are typically 5–10 years for glass-lined steel and 10–15 years for stainless steel.
Is it worth repairing an old hot water system?
If the tank is sound and the fault is a part like a thermostat, element or valve, a repair is usually worthwhile. If the cylinder itself is leaking, check the warranty first. Outside warranty, that’s when we talk about a replacement.
Will my warranty cover a new relief valve or anode?
Usually not. Manufacturers treat them as routine maintenance parts. Check your warranty, but expect to pay for them.
Does the hot water warranty cover water damage to my house?
Generally no. Warranties cover the heater, not the damage a leak causes, so get leaks looked at early.
How often should a hot water system be serviced?
Rheem recommends a major service every five years for its electric storage heaters, plus checking the relief valve lever every six months. Other brands have their own schedules, so check the owner’s guide.
