What is a Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV)?
A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) helps ensure a consistent water temperature by blending hot and cold water together. This helps prevent scalding from water that is too hot and can also improve energy efficiency.
By mixing the water together, the TMV maintains a consistent temperature, which improves comfort and helps reduce water waste. It is crucial that both TMVs and backflow prevention devices are maintained and tested yearly.
What is Backflow Prevention?
Backflow prevention is a device or method used to protect water supplies from contamination. Backflow can occur when water in the supply system flows backwards into the pipes, for example after a sudden change in pressure or when the system is turned off and back on. Backflow prevention devices are installed in the water supply to stop this from happening.
