General Plumbing Murarrie
Licensed plumbing and gas for Murarrie homes and businesses, between the Brisbane River and Bulimba Creek. Drainage, sewer, leaks, hot water and gas, with flood risk in mind.

Know your flood risk first
Murarrie sits on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, bounded by Bulimba Creek on two sides. Before any drainage, hot water or renovation plumbing work, it’s worth knowing how water behaves on your block.
Brisbane City Council’s free FloodWise Property Report shows the type and likelihood of flooding at a property: river, creek, storm tide and overland flow. It includes estimated flood levels, the January 2011 and February 2022 historic flood levels, the property’s ground levels and indicative floor level, and the minimum habitable floor level for building work.
Generate it from council’s Flood Awareness Map by entering your address. If the report shows no river, creek or storm tide levels, council notes that flooding can still be a risk from overland flow, which appears as a development flag further down the report.

When heavy rain backs up the sewer
Urban Utilities explains that in extreme wet weather, stormwater can get into the sewer network and cause wet weather overflows in low-lying areas. It gets in through incorrect plumbing connections, overflow relief gullies that sit too low, and cracks or breaks in pipes and maintenance holes.
If sewage overflows, avoid contact with it, stop using toilets, turn off taps, and check your overflow relief gully is clear. If the overflow is outside, report it to Urban Utilities on 13 23 64 and they’ll send a crew to disinfect the area. If it’s inside, call your insurer, or your landlord if you rent. Urban Utilities can’t clean inside homes.
On your side, we can check that downpipes and yard drains aren’t connected to the sewer, that your gully sits at the right height, and run a CCTV camera through your sewer and stormwater lines for cracks and breaks that let water in. Where a yard holds water, we install drainage and seepage trenches.
We work under QBCC licence 15504687 and gas licence L90908, with emergency calls taken 24/7.
